- Degree in Graphic Design preferred but not required
- Proficient with general typographic, layout and full-color printing skills
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Office Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Quark, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to design ads in a fast-paced, daily deadline-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills, able to develop customer ideas
- Ability to focus while balancing efficiency with creative quality
- Understanding of color theory and general design principles
- Knowledge of print production and different printing protocols
Job Description
- Design newspaper print or online ads for various publications in a daily deadline environment based on knowledge of aesthetic design concepts
- Create spec ads for reps as requested
- Create a high-end design for special products; create special logos as requested
- Make corrections to ads that have run or are currently running
- Design marketing materials and sales flyers
- Check and respond to e-mails in a timely manner
- Answer questions and work out problems with printing products
- Review graphics and layouts and suggest improvements as needed
- Produce print-ready layouts for use in newspaper or magazine
- 2-3 years of work experience in magazine and/or newspaper layout color scanning and correction as well as four color process preparation
